Cairo Tower is considered one the famous land marks of modern Cairo. It has been the tallest concrete building in Egypt at 187 m , stands on Gizerah island in the river Nile close to Down Town. The Tower was designed by Egyptian architect Naoum Shebib who designed it in the form of open Lotus flower which is the symbol of the ancient Egyptian Civilization. It consist of 16 floors stand on a stone base of red granite and crowned by the first rotating restaurant in Egypt,Cafe and Observation deck with the best view over greater Cairo.
6 yeas had been lasted to build that Tower from 1956 to 1961 which it cost 6 million EGP had been given to President of Egypt Gamal Abdel Nasser by the American government as a personal gift to deceive his eyes to change his attitude toward Arab causes,however he refused doing what they wanted,He put that amount to start the Tower construction as a reference to the famous "not" said in the history.
The Tower was opened on April 11 by Nasser and recently renovated with adding out door lighting using 'LED' technique to control the lighting and the colors.
