The great citadel of Qaitbey was constructed in a 15th-century fortress on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea coast where the great lighthouse of Alexandria once stood. It was built in 1477 AD by Sultan Al-Ashraf Qa’it Bay and is filled with the most amazing Islamic constructions and artifacts.
