The Education system in Egypt

Egypt’s educational system

Egypt’s education is a crucial topic that offers insight into how Egyptian minds are formed. The purpose of this page is to provide every tourist with an opportunity to learn about Egypt’s educational system. All of the facts and data on this page were compiled by a group of Egyptian experts who are extremely knowledgeable. The degree of education supplied to the next generation, which is the foundation for the future, determines the future of any nation. The National Center for Curricula Development, the National Center for Education Research, and the National Center for Examinations and Educational Evaluation assist the Ministry of Education in making choices regarding the educational system. Each center has its own task, purpose, and turn. The Ministry of Higher Education, on the other hand, is in charge of overseeing the higher education system. Egypt’s education may be divided into six categories:

  1. The nursery (Baby Class)
  2. Kindergarten
  3. Elementary School
  4. School of Preparation (Middle School)
  5. Senior High School (High School)
  6. A high level of education (University)

In Egypt, there are two sorts of schools: public schools and private schools. Egypt’s public and governmental schools and colleges provide free-of-charge education. The following are the basic phases of education in Egypt, along with further information on each stage:

Stage 1: Nursery

Talking about the nursery stage would take too much time, and seeing one of Egypt’s nurseries would add so much pleasure to your Egypt tours; watching our children play and come up with new ideas throughout their lives will make your Egypt trip entirely unique. Children begin nursery at the age of two years and six months, which is a difficult time for both the mother and the child. As a result, if you visit a nursery during the first week of September, you will notice that all mothers are waiting for their children outside classrooms, refusing to return home without their children during the first week of school. This stage lasts one year, after which the children can progress to Kindergarten.

Kindergarten (grade 2)

Our children begin this period when they are three years and six months old, and it lasts two years. By the end of the first year, when the kid is ready to write his name, the children may ask to recognize the shape of the letters and numbers in Arabic and English. During the second year of this stage, children recognize numerous short words in Arabic and English, such as the names of fruits, vegetables, and animals. The kindergarten administration provides a variety of activities for children, including athletics, social activities, and field trips. By the conclusion of this stage, youngsters should be able to sing roughly 20 English songs, know at least 100 English terms in addition to Arabic, and be able to add two-digit numbers. It is a crucial and difficult stage in a child’s development that allows him to develop his personality and skills. It is dependent on well-educated teachers who are very clever and skilled enough to deal with children in their early years and make them feel better; all teachers in this stage are females.

3-Elementary Schools

When kids go from Kindergarten to primary school, they become perplexed because they are expected to write and complete a large amount of homework. They must also study a second foreign language, primarily English. They can recognize parts of Egyptian history and the human body’s major organs; mathematics is also an essential topic at this time. During this period, physical education is highly essential, and schools are concerned with planning visits to various locations and touring inside Egypt. The kid attends elementary school for six years before moving on to Preparatory School.

4- Schools of Preparation

It takes three years to complete and is more difficult than primary school. Students study extra topics such as geography, math, physics, foreign languages, and religion so that they may select after those three years whatever portion of secondary school they want to pursue.

5- Secondary Schools

Upper secondary schools are divided into three categories:

  • Secondary schools for general education.
  • Secondary schools affiliated with Al-Azhar.
  • Secondary technical schools.

Schools for General Secondary Education

It provides academic programs that prepare students for higher education institutions such as universities and colleges. Students can select between two courses in the General Education sector: scientific or literary. Both streams have English and Arabic as required topics, as well as the following streaming subjects: Mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry are included in the Scientific Section, whereas Arts, history, geography, and home economics are included in the Literary Section. Environmental sciences, social studies, national studies, philosophy, psychology, music, and European languages are examples of elective subjects. These subjects are chosen in accordance with the student’s desired post-secondary specialty. Other European languages, such as French, German, Italian, or Spanish, are also taught at schools. It takes three years to complete, following which students can apply to one of the faculties of their choice depending on their final grades.

Secondary Schools in Al Azhar

It provides academic programs with a focus on Islamic religious education. In 1998, Egypt’s Ministry of Education decreased the number of secondary school years from four to three in order to align the Al Azhar system with the broader secondary education system.

Secondary Technical Schools

A distinct kind of secondary school that offers technical and vocational programs that span three to five years and allow students to specialize in one of three streams: technical, industrial, or agricultural.

6- Advanced Education (University)

Egypt has about 42 universities. There are 20 state universities with 2 million students and 22 private institutions with around 1 million students that are growing each year. Cairo University, founded in 1902 by King Fouad I, is Egypt’s most prestigious institution. In Egypt, education is a critical instrument for obtaining all of our requirements and pursuing a better life; it enables individuals to confront life’s problems.
