Day 1: Explore Luxor’s Tourist Attractions

We will pick you up from your hotel in a modern A.C. car for your trip to Luxor. Upon arrival, your private Egyptologist tour guide will accompany you to begin your two-day Luxor & Aswan tours from Marsa Alam by visiting Luxor’s captivating tourist attractions, starting with:

Valley of the Kings: This site, the final resting place of Egypt’s rulers from the 18th to the 20th dynasty, houses the ancient tombs of pharaohs and famous people in ancient Egyptian society, including King Ramses II and King Tutankhamun. The tombs came well-stocked with all the material goods a ruler might need in the next world. Most of the decoration inside the tombs remains well-preserved.

Hatshepsut Temple: This stands as one of the most beautiful and best-preserved of all the temples of Ancient Egypt. Builders constructed the temple on three levels with two wide ramps in a central position joining the levels together.

Colossi of Memnon: These two massive stone statues of King Amenhotep III are the only remains of a complete mortuary temple. Workers made the statues from blocks of quartzite sandstone that originated in Cairo and then moved them 700 KM to Luxor.

Lunch will be served at an Egyptian Nile-view restaurant. Afterward, join your private guide to enjoy:

Karnak Temple: No site in Egypt impresses more than Karnak Temple. It is the largest temple complex ever built by man, representing the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders and Pharaohs. The Temple of Karnak consists of three main temples situated on 247 acres of land.

We will then transfer you to Luxor train station to catch your 1st class train to Aswan. Upon your arrival, we will transfer you to your 5-star hotel for check-in and overnight.

Day 2: Tour Aswan’s Highlights

In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel. You will join your private tour guide to continue your journey by visiting Aswan’s fascinating tourist attractions:

Aswan High Dam: Workers built this across the Nile at Aswan between 1960 and 1970. It has had a significant effect on the economy and culture of Egypt.

The Unfinished Obelisk: This is the largest obelisk from ancient times. Hatshepsut (1508-1458 BC) ordered it to complement the Lateran Obelisk (which originally stood at Karnak). Later, they brought it to the Lateran Palace in Rome.

Philae Temple: The temple dedicates itself to the goddess Isis of Love and beauty. As part of the UNESCO Nubia Campaign project, workers dismantled and relocated the temple complex to nearby Agilkia Island. The campaign’s goal was to protect it and other complexes before the Aswan High Dam’s completion in 1970.

Finally, you will have your lunch, then catch your private car and transfer back to your hotel to end your Luxor and Aswan from Marsa Alam Tours.

Solid Tour Company

Last year (2010) my wife and I did a 20 day trip in Egypt, mostly Do-It-Yourself. However, one of the first things we did was a trip to Bahariya oasis and to the White Desert — not so easy to do yourself, so we needed an agency. After e-mail back-and-forths
