Day 1: Marsa Alam to Luxor – East Bank Exploration
Early in the morning, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Marsa Alam in a private, air-conditioned car to begin your trip to Luxor. Upon arrival, your private tour guide will join you to visit:
Karnak Temple: No site in Egypt impresses more than Karnak. As the largest temple complex ever built by man, it represents the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders and pharaohs. The Temple of Karnak features three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples, all situated on 247 acres of land.
Luxor Temple: This temple served as the center of the most important festival, the festival of Opet. Largely built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II, the temple provided a setting for the festival’s rituals, which aimed to reconcile the ruler’s human aspect with the divine office.
Lunch will be served on an island, so your tour includes a boat trip. Afterward, you’ll check into a 5-star hotel to refresh yourself before we pick you up once more to enjoy:
Sound and Light Show at Karnak: The show begins with a historical introduction covering the birth of the great city of Thebes and the erection of the Karnak Temple. It narrates the glorious achievements of great Pharaohs as you listen to a magnificent and poetic description of the artistic treasures and great legacy that the Karnak Temple encloses. You’ll spend the night at your 5-star hotel.
Day 2: Visit Luxor West Bank – Return to Marsa Alam
After breakfast at your hotel, your private tour guide will accompany you following check-out. You’ll then ride in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to continue your trip to Luxor from Marsa Alam by visiting:
Valley of the Kings: This site, the final resting place of Egypt’s rulers from the 18th to the 20th dynasty, houses the ancient tombs of Pharaohs and famous people in ancient Egyptian society, including King Ramses II and King Tutankhamun. The tombs came well-stocked with all the material goods a ruler might need in the next world. Most of the decoration inside the tombs remains well-preserved.
Hatshepsut Temple: This stands as one of the most beautiful and best-preserved of all the temples of Ancient Egypt. Builders constructed the temple on three levels with two wide ramps in a central position joining the levels together.
Colossi of Memnon: These two massive stone statues of King Amenhotep III are the only remains of a complete mortuary temple. Workers made the statues from blocks of quartzite sandstone that originated in Cairo and then moved them 700 KM to Luxor.
Enjoy your lunch at a Nile View restaurant before we drive you back to your hotel, concluding your trip to Luxor from Marsa Alam.
