The Great Sphinx
Only via the greatest man-made monument ever erected in human history can the magnificence of Pharaoh Khafre (2558 BC – 2532 BCSphinx )’s be understood as an illustration of his immense power and wisdom. Thutmose IV put his grand dream, Steele, between the sphinx’s paws in 1404 BC.

The temple was constructed to commemorate the solar festival, which is held on the 22nd of each month (October and February), and has images of Ra Horakhty, Amun, Ptah, and the Great Ramsess. Just 100 meters distant is the second temple that Queen Nefertari erected to worship Hathor and demonstrate the extent of Ramses’s devotion to his wife Queen.
