History in 2 Days Luxor from Hurghada

Embark on a two-day journey from Hurghada to Luxor and discover ancient Egypt’s wonders. This tour takes you back in time to explore Luxor’s top attractions: Karnak Temple, Hatshepsut Temple, and the Valley of the Kings. Experience a unique Sound and Light Show at Karnak. An expert Egyptologist guide and private A/C car from Egypt Fun Tours ensure an unforgettable exploration of this magnificent ancient city.

Day 1: Luxor East Bank Exploration

Early this morning, your private tour guide will pick you up in a comfortable, air-conditioned car. You’ll head directly to Luxor and immediately cast your eyes on Luxor’s top attractions.

Marvel at Karnak Temple

First, explore Karnak Temple, where the heavens seem to smile upon this holy land. Builders constructed this immense complex over 4000 years ago across 247 acres, incorporating three main temples and several enclosed and outer temples. For over 1500 years, Karnak has stood as one of the largest religious structures on Earth and served as the worship center for the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu.

Discover Luxor Temple’s Beauty

Next, you’ll move to Luxor Temple, a “lunar flower from paradise.” Pharaoh Amenhotep III constructed this temple in 1400 BCE. Known as “Ipetresyet,” meaning “the southern sanctuary,” it hosted various festivals, including the Opet festival. The temple dedicated itself to the God Amun, symbolizing the rejuvenation of kingship. Enjoy lunch on an island, which includes a delightful boat trip. Afterward, you’ll check into your 5-star hotel.

Experience the Karnak Sound and Light Show

In the evening, immerse yourself in the Sound and Light Show at Karnak. This spectacular presentation brings all the monuments to life, showcasing the historical birth of the city of Thebes and the rise of the Karnak Temple in a breathtaking display. Colossal statues of the pharaohs narrate the timeless history of this great nation. Listen to poetic descriptions of the divine ancient Egyptian artifacts, treasures, and everlasting legacy surrounding Karnak Temple.

After the show, you’ll head back to your hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 2: Luxor West Bank Adventure & Return to Hurghada

Begin your day with a delicious breakfast and check out from your hotel. Your private tour guide will then accompany you in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to explore Luxor’s fascinating West Bank attractions.

Journey through the Valley of the Kings

Known as the “heavenly passage of the immortals,” the Valley of the Kings contains 63 tombs. These burial sites belonged to rulers from the 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties of Egypt’s New Kingdom (1570-1070 BC). Discover enchanting treasures, artifacts, mesmerizing decorations, and the remains of pharaohs such as Ramses II, Amenhotep I, Hatshepsut, and Tutankhamun. The Valley of the Kings earned its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.

Admire Hatshepsut Temple

Next, explore Hatshepsut Temple, a beautiful lady from an ancient tale. The temple dedicated itself to the creator god Amun and immortalized the great legacy of one of ancient Egypt’s most successful leaders, Queen Hatshepsut. The temple’s brilliant design follows the Classical Architecture style of the New Kingdom, featuring three levels connected by two wide central ramps.

Witness the Colossi of Memnon

Stand before the Colossi of Memnon, two colossal warriors from the heavens. These 18-meter (60ft) tall quartzite sandstone blocks, each weighing 720 tons, resemble Pharaoh Amenhotep III (1386-1350 BC). They traveled 700 km from Cairo to Luxor. A large earthquake destroyed them in 27 BC, but reconstruction occurred in 199 AD.

You’ll enjoy lunch at a Nile-view restaurant. Afterward, you’ll drive back to your hotel in Hurghada, concluding your enriching two-day trip to Luxor from Hurghada.

Egypt Fun Tours – Does it All!

My husband and I visited Egypt in March 2013. First, let me say, ‘Go, go, go!’ – it’s safer and definitely friendlier than many places we’ve visited. Tourism is drastically down – thanks mostly to media misinformation – so it’s a great time to visit to avoid line-ups and crowds
