Day 1: Crossing the Suez to the Sinai Heart

First, your private expedition begins with an early morning pickup from your Cairo residence. We travel east in a luxury vehicle, crossing the Suez Canal via the Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel. As a result, you move from the African continent to the Asian desert in a single morning. Next, we follow the scenic coastal road along the Gulf of Suez before cutting inland through the spectacular granite wadis. Afterward, we arrive at Saint Catherine’s town by mid-afternoon. You will check into your accommodation for a traditional dinner and an early rest. This rest is vital, as the spiritual climb begins long before dawn.

Day 2: The Ascent and the Sacred Citadel

At approximately 2:00 AM, your local Bedouin guide meets you for the ascent of Mount Sinai. You will follow the “Camel Path” under a canopy of desert stars. Following the hike, you reach the summit just as the sun breaks over the “Sea of Peaks.” After experiencing this legendary sunrise, you descend via the “Steps of Penitence” to the monastery gates.

Then, you will enter the Monastery of Saint Catherine at opening time. Your private Egyptologist will guide you through the Basilica of the Transfiguration and to the Burning Bush. You will see the Well of Moses and the ancient walls that have never been breached in 1,500 years. Finally, after a late breakfast, we begin the return journey to Cairo. We time the crossing of the Suez carefully to ensure you reach your hotel by evening, carrying the silence and majesty of the Sinai with you.
