Day 2: Visit the Pyramids: After breakfast, you will begin your 9-day Cairo & Sharm El Sheik trip by visiting Cairo’s treasures, beginning with:
Pyramids of Giza Complex: The Giza Pyramids complex is one of the most well-known archaeological sites on the planet. For the previous 4500 years, it has served as a real representation of the magnificence of the ancient Egyptian civilization. The complex consists of three large pyramids, each named after King Kharfe, Khufu, and Menkaure, six smaller pyramids, Egypt’s lone protector, the giant Sphinx, and the Valley Temple, which grants immortality.
The Great Pyramid of Giza: The magnificent Khufu pyramid is the closest thing to heaven, the oldest and final intact marvel of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
The pyramid stands at 147 m (481 ft) in height because it was built in 2580 BC in only 20 years using 2,300,000 pieces of limestone each weighing 2.5 tonnes and a workforce of 100,000 free skilled workers, making it the tallest building in the world for 3800 years until the Lincoln Cathedral England was built in 1311.
The pyramid began the golden period of building in Ancient Egypt, and it continues to attract tourists from all over the globe because of its enigmatic origins and pursuits, which continue to fascinate scholars.
The Great Sphinx is the world’s biggest and oldest statue; it is designed like a legendary creature called the sphinx, which has the body of a lion and the head of a man and is most likely modeled after King Khafre’s head as a symbol of knowledge and strength.
It is said to have been erected in Egypt’s ancient dynasty (2686-2134 BC) as “Hor-em-akhet,” which means “Horus of the Horizon,” but it is now known as Abu Al-Hawl, which means “The Father of Terror” in Arabic. It stands 73 meters (240 feet) tall, 19 meters (66 feet) wide, and was totally carved out of single limestone rock. There are many unresolved questions and riddles surrounding the sphinx-like his strange nose.
The Valley Temple was built during the ancient monarchy (2686-2134 BC) and was the location of the Mummification process. It is one of the best-preserved monuments of the ancient Egyptian civilization, constructed completely of red limestone and granite, and housing amazing diorite sculptures of King Chephren.
After lunch at a typical Cairo restaurant, continue your day trip by visiting:
The Saqqara Step Pyramid was erected around 2700 BC and is attributed to kicking off the period of pyramid building. It was created by the brilliant Imhotep, the vizier of Pharaoh Djoser.
The pyramid has a distinctive six-step shape and rises 62 meters in height. It is built completely of limestone and is surrounded by a unique complex that was the first of its type, having spectacular embellishments and grand ceremonial buildings that are still in good condition.
City of Memphis: Memphis was Egypt’s first recognized capital, created by King Menes to be the lifeblood of the two countries. It was the Land of Endurance and Beauty, the hub of government, commerce, art, religion, and the deity Ptah’s protection (The Patron of Craftsmen).
The city was home to the enormous temple of Hut-Ka-Ptah, which meant (Enclosure of Ptah’s Ka) and was translated into Greek as Ai-Gy-Ptos, which is the etymological basis of the name Egypt.
Finally, we return you to your Cairo hotel for the night.
Day 3: Visit Old Cairo Landmarks: After breakfast, you will continue your Cairo, Alexandria, and Sharm El Sheik vacation by traveling with your tour guide to the center of “The City of Minarets” Cairo to uncover several historical squabbles, beginning with:
The Egyptian Museum, which displays the history of the ancient Egyptian civilization, is one of the world’s biggest museums and has a lot of remarkable ancient Egyptian antiquities going back more than 4000 years from all historical periods.
Inside the two floors of the museum are over 150,000 rare genuine artifacts made from extravagant materials like gold and precious gems to ordinary ones like wood or stone that come in the form of statues, jewelry, and funerary objects; some of these artifacts are King Tutankhamun’s treasures, as well as a number of displayed mummies.
Lunch will be provided at a local Cairo restaurant before visiting:
Salah El-Din Citadel, also known as Cairo Citadel, depicts the guardian spirit that has stood vigil over the city for over 800 years. Since its erection in 1182 AD by the great conqueror Salah El-Din, it has served as the hub of rulership and a formidable fortification against foreign invaders like the Crusaders and Napoleon’s French army. For more than 700 years, the Cairo Citadel served as the government’s headquarters; inside the citadel are a lot of museums and spectacular structures.
Mohamed Ali Mosque is known as the alabaster mosque owing to its unusual architecture and heavy use of marble; it was constructed between 1830 and 1848 AD to be an identical duplicate of Istanbul’s blue mosque, and it may be considered a symbol of independence and freedom against the Ottoman Empire.
The mosque is very engaging with its ottoman design, French Rococo architecture, beautiful finishes of opulent crimson, green, and gold, and a big mesmerizing dome. It has an elegant brass clock given to Muhammad Ali by King Louis Philippe of France in return for an obelisk that sits in Paris’s Concorde Square.
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) is capable of displaying all of Egypt’s hidden 3-and intangible wonders in the clearest vision and providing visitors from all over the world with the magical sight of the most majestic artifacts dating back more than 4000 years of diverse history and culture.
The Khan El Khalili Bazaar is where the magic occurs; it is the Middle East’s oldest and most busy thoroughfare, known as the “golden brick road.” The street dates back to 970 AD and features spectacular Islamic architecture and decorations, as well as everything a traveler might want, as well as all the great cafes and businesses that date back endless centuries.
You will return to your accommodation for the night after the day.
Day 4: Highlights of the Tour to Alexandria: After breakfast, you will travel to Alexandria, the gem of the Mediterranean, with your tour guide to continue your Cairo, Alexandria, and Sharm El Sheik excursions by viewing some of the top Alexandria tourist sites, beginning with:
Kom El Shoqafa Catacombs: The Catacombs are the only archaeological site in Egypt that functions as a stunning work of art, illustrating the merger of Hellenistic and Roman creative components with ancient Egyptian Pharaonic design in the most spectacular form. It was erected as a necropolis in the second century AD and has a large quantity of Greek and Roman artifacts and ornamentation between its three levels, earning it the distinction of one of the Middle Ages’ seven wonders.
Return to the surface and continue to visit:
Pompey’s Pillar is a symbol of Roman greatness since it is the biggest monolithic column ever erected outside of Rome. It was dubbed Pompey’s Pillar because Crusaders thought that the bones of the famous Roman commander Pompey were kept in a jar at the very top of the pillar during the Middle Ages. It is built of solid red granite and rises 28 meters tall and 2.7 meters wide. On its western top side is a Greek inscription attributed to Emperor Diocletian.
Citadel of Qaitbay: The Qaitbey Citadel is a lovely antique memory that contains the everlasting shining spirit of the Alexandria Lighthouse.
It was built in 1477 on the same site as the legendary lighthouse of Alexandria by Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf Al-Din Qaytbay using stones salvaged from the wrecked lighthouse that served as the third longest surviving ancient wonder until it was destroyed by a series of earthquakes between 956 AD and 1323 AD. The citadel features some beautiful Islamic-era designs.
Lunch will be provided at a seafood restaurant, and your excursion will conclude with a visit to:
Alexandria Library is a time capsule that serves as a memorial to the ancient Alexandria Library; it is one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated libraries. It is home to the world’s sixth-largest Francophone library.
