Morning: The Prehistoric Open-Air Museum

First, your journey begins with a private pickup from your Cairo residence in a luxury 4×4 vehicle. We head southwest toward the Wadi El Hitan (Valley of the Whales). As a result of millions of years of erosion, this UNESCO site reveals the skeletons of the Basilosaurus and Dorudon. Your guide will lead you on a desert walk to see these fossils in situ. They will explain how these creatures serve as the “missing link” in whale evolution. Furthermore, you will explore the Fossil & Climate Change Museum to understand the region’s transformation from a tropical sea to a golden desert.

Mid-Day: Waterfalls and Oasis Life

Next, we transition to the Wadi El Rayan Protected Area. Here, you will witness the contrast of the blue waterfalls against the yellow desert sands. This is an ideal location for photography and observing local birdlife. Afterward, we visit the Village of Tunis. This artistic hub overlooking Lake Qarun is famous for its pottery workshops. You will have time to walk through its colorful streets and see how the oasis community thrives today.

Afternoon: Desert Adrenaline and Sunset

Following a traditional lunch, the adventure moves into the deep dunes. Your 4×4 driver will take you on an exhilarating “dune bashing” session toward Magic Lake. Once there, you can try sandboarding down the massive dunes or simply relax by the water as the colors shift in the afternoon light. Finally, we begin the drive back to Cairo, timing your return to avoid city traffic and ensure you arrive at your hotel by early evening.
