About Giza Pyramids

The Giza Pyramids are one of the most iconic landmarks in Egypt and the world, situated near the city of Giza, southwest of Cairo. The Great Pyramid, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated complexes, comprise the complex. Builders constructed them during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of ancient Egypt, between 2600 and 2500 BC.

The Great Pyramid.

which is also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or Cheops, is the largest pyramid in Giza and the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world that is still standing today 1. The Great Pyramid was built in approximately 2570 BC and stands at an impressive height of 147 meters. It is constructed of about 2.3 million limestone blocks, each weighing around 2.5 tons, and it is estimated that it took around 20 years and 100,000 workers to complete its construction.

The Pyramid of Khafre.

located a few hundred meters southwest of the Great Pyramid, is the second-largest pyramid in Giza. It was built by the Pharaoh Khafre and stands at a height of 136 meters. The Pyramid of Khafre is slightly smaller than the Great Pyramid but appears taller due to its elevation.

Pharaoh Menkaure constructed the Pyramid of Menkaure, which is located a short distance south of the other two pyramids and is the smallest of the three. It stands at a height of 62 meters, and workers completed its construction around 2510 BC.

The Giza Pyramid complex is also home to the Great SphinPharaoh Menkaure constructed the Pyramid of Menkaure, which is located a short distance south of the other two pyramids and is the smallest of the three. It stands at a height of 62 meters, and workers completed its construction around 2510 , a massive statue with the head of a human and the body of a lion. The builders constructed the Sphinx to stand at a height of 20 meters, and they placed it on the west bank of the Nile River. Its purpose remains a mystery.

To enhance the visitor experience, the Giza Pyramid complex not only offers the chance to explore its remarkable structures but also features a captivating sound and light show in the evenings, enriching the historical journey.

Overall, the grandeur and architectural prowess of ancient Egypt showcase the Giza Pyramids, making them a must-see destination for anyone interested in history, tradition, and culture.

Very Considerate and Helpful

Guide and driver were on time, open to my requests and took care that I felt safe and saw the Pyramids and parts of old cairo during my less than 24 hour stay between flights. Office staff were great in communicating by email before and during the trip.
