1st day: Cairo to Bahariya to the White Desert

Depart Cairo at 7:00 AM for a four-hour drive to Bahariya Oasis, located 365 kilometers southeast. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant called Oasis. Then, travel to Bawiti, the capital of Bahariya, in a 4×4 vehicle with your Bedouin driver and guide, taking in views of lush palm trees and towering dunes.

Afterward, relax in the thermal springs at Bir Al Matar and Bir El Ghaba. Next, hike up ‘English Mountain’ to see the remnants of a British World War I station. Continue past the Salt Lake into the Black Desert, known for its black volcanic hills, and visit the hot springs in El Haize Valley before marveling at Crystal Mountain, a stunning crystal formation.

As you enter the White Desert National Park, witness the incredible white rock formations shaped by the wind into unique spires and mushrooms. After exploring, return to El Haize for your overnight campsite. Enjoy a spectacular desert sunset followed by a barbecue dinner under the stars, then camp for the night surrounded by the enchanting landscape.

Day 2: White Desert to Bahariya Oasis to Cairo

After breakfast and some time to soak in the desert’s tranquility, take your 4×4 back to Bahariya. Relax at the Oasis before returning to Cairo, where your tour concludes around 5:00 PM.

  2. Admission fees to the specified historical sites.
  3. Transportation in a private, air-conditioned vehicle.
  4. Transfer by a private 4×4 vehicle.
  5. One night of accommodation in a tent.

In short, after leaving Cairo in the morning, you will travel to Bahariyya, have lunch in Al-Haiz Village, go off-road to see the Crystal Mountains, the Black Desert, Agabat, the Old White Desert, the New White Desert, camp in the New White Desert, have dinner, and spend the night. In the morning, you will return to Cairo and be dropped off at your hotel or other location in Cairo.

You may want to spend the night in a hotel instead of camping with extra:

  • 24 $ per person per night in a TRP room with half board treatment.

We might need to switch sites and/or skip some, or add more sites, due to possible authorities’ limitations and/or directions of this White Desert camping adventure.
