Day One: Discover Historical Treasures in Luxor
An “Egypt Fun Tours” representative will pick you up from your cruise at Sokhna Port. Then, you’ll transfer to Cairo airport for a flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, your tour guide and a private air-conditioned vehicle will accompany you to explore:
Valley of the Kings
This is the final resting place for Egypt’s rulers from the 18th to the 20th dynasty. It holds tombs of pharaohs like Ramses II and Tutankhamun. These tombs were well-stocked with goods for the afterlife. Most decorations inside the tombs remain well-preserved.
Hatshepsut Temple
This is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved ancient Egyptian temples. The temple features three levels. Two wide ramps in a central position connect these levels.
Colossi of Memnon
These two massive stone statues depict King Amenhotep III. They are the only remains of a complete mortuary temple. The statues were made from quartzite sandstone blocks found in Cairo. Workers then moved them 700 KM to Luxor. Next, enjoy lunch on an island. Your tour includes a boat trip on the Nile River. Afterward, you will tour:
Karnak Temple
No site in Egypt is more impressive than Karnak. It is the largest temple complex ever built by man. It represents the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders and Pharaohs. The Temple of Karnak includes three main temples. They sit on 247 acres of land. Finally, you will transfer to a 5-star hotel for an overnight stay.
Day Two: Explore the History of Ancient Pharaohs in Cairo
After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Then, you’ll catch a flight to Cairo. Here, you’ll join your Egyptologist tour guide to visit:
Giza Pyramids Complex
The complex includes three main pyramids and six smaller ones. It also features the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple. The complex dates back to the 4th dynasty, 2400 years B.C.
The Great Pyramid
This is the oldest and largest of the three Giza plateau pyramids. It is the only one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World still intact. The Great Pyramid stands 147 meters tall. Workers used 2,300,000 stones in its construction. It took twenty years to build.
The Great Sphinx
This is the largest statue in the world. It measures 73 meters long, 19 meters wide, and 20 meters high. It is the oldest known monumental sculpture.
The Valley Temple
This granite mortuary temple was used by ancient Egyptians for mummification. It is the only remaining such temple on the Giza plateau. Lunch will be served at a Pyramids/Nile View restaurant. Afterward, you will visit:
The Egyptian Museum
The Museum displays a rare collection of 5,000 years of art. This includes an exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamun’s collection of treasure, gold, and jewelry. This collection remained in his tomb for over 3,500 years. In the evening, a private air-conditioned vehicle will transfer you to Sokhna Port.
