1st day: Monday – Esna Arrival & Tour

  • Upon arrival at Luxor Airport or train station, your Egypt Fun Tours manager will welcome and assist you. An Egyptologist tour guide will then lead you on a tour of Esna.
  • Esna is a lively market village, well known for its small, ancient Temple of Khnum, which sits 9 meters below street level.
  • Your journey begins with a short walk to the temple, followed by a tour through shops lined with beautiful fabrics and other unusual items.
  • Overnight: Aboard your Nile Dahabiya boat in Esna.
  • Meals: Lunch and Dinner.

2nd day: Tuesday – El Kab & Edfu

  • We will cruise leisurely to El Kab, which was once the capital of Southern Egypt on the Nile’s East bank. Today, you can find the Temple of Nekhbet and a row of magnificent tombs carved into the mountainside.
  • After docking, you’ll take a lovely stroll through a small fishing village to the necropolis.
  • In the afternoon, the boat will arrive in Edfu, home to a well-preserved Greco-Roman temple dedicated to the god Horus.
  • A horse and carriage will transport you through the city’s bustling streets to the temple.
  • After your return to the boat, we will set sail for a beautiful island.
  • Meals: Full-board meals are included.

3rd day: Wednesday – Sail & Relax

  • This is a river-focused day. We will set sail right after an optional morning stroll and brunch.
  • In the afternoon, we will stop on an island for a stroll or a dip in the Nile.
  • As darkness falls, you may take a trek into the desert through a valley strewn with rocks carved with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and Stone Age inscriptions. These images mark the start of the shortest desert trail to Libya (which took 28 days in ancient times).
  • Overnight: The vessel will dock for the night at the foot of Gebel Silsileh’s floodlit shrine.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Day 4: Thursday – Gebel Silsileh

  • The Nile narrows here as it winds past two mountain ranges. Larger Nile cruise ships cannot stop here, so you will likely be the only guest.
  • After viewing Horemheb’s modest temple and strolling through the sandstone quarries where ancient Egyptians carved stone for many of their most famous temples, we will stop at a lovely cafe for tea and shisha (waterpipe).
  • Our next destination will be an idyllic riverside where you can swim and relax after lunch.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

5th day: Friday – Kom Ombo

  • After a night on the river and under the stars, our morning journey will take you to the village of Kom Ombo and its famous temple.
  • People built the temple during the Ptolemaic era on the site of an earlier structure, overlooking a beautiful bend in the river. The temple honors Sobek, a crocodile-headed god.
  • After seeing the temple, you can head to the nearby Crocodile Museum, which houses several mummified crocodiles, attesting to the creature’s historical significance in the area.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Last day: Saturday – Aswan Departure

  • Enjoy a hearty breakfast on board your Dahabiya Nile cruise. Afterward, we will transport you to the Aswan airport or train station for your final departure.
