12-Day Classic Egypt Tour Itinerary

Part 1: Cairo Arrival & The Great Pyramids

Day 1: Welcome to the Pharaohs’ Homeland – Cairo

  • First, upon your arrival at Cairo International Airport, an Egypt Fun Tours team member will greet you and help with your passport steps.
  • Next, your private guide will take you to a modern Cairo hotel for an easy check-in.
  • In the evening, you will go on a highly-rated Nile River dinner cruise.
  • During the ride, enjoy traditional music and belly dancing, while your guide shares some early history.

Day 2: The Giza Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum

  • To begin the day, eat a fresh breakfast at the hotel.
  • Following this, a driver will pick you up in a private car to start your trip.
  • Undoubtedly, the Giza Pyramids Complex is amazing, so you will spend plenty of time seeing the Great Pyramid, the Sphinx, and the Valley Temple.
  • After a nice lunch at a local spot, the tour moves to the Grand Egyptian Museum.
  • Here, you will find many ancient items, including King Tut’s gold.
  • Ultimately, we will drive you back to the hotel for a good night’s rest.

Part 2: Aswan & Abu Simbel Temples

Day 3: Flight to Aswan & South Highlights

  • In the morning, eat breakfast before going to the airport for a short flight.
  • Once you arrive in Aswan, an expert guide will meet you to visit the massive Aswan High Dam.
  • Furthermore, you will see the Unfinished Obelisk, which Queen Hatshepsut ordered built.
  • Then, you can eat lunch while looking at the lovely Nile River.
  • Later, the trip takes you to the Philae Temple on Agilkia Island.
  • Finally, check into a comfortable Aswan hotel to sleep.

Day 4: The Temples of Abu Simbel

  • Because this trip starts early, you will get a packed breakfast box to take with you.

Part 3: The Journey to Luxor

Day 5: Train Ride & East Bank Tour

  • First of all, you will take a first-class morning train from Aswan to Luxor.
  • Upon reaching the station, your guide will be ready to take you straight to the huge Karnak Temple.
  • Afterward, enjoy a calm lunch near the water.
  • Next, we will drop you off at your new Luxor hotel to check in.
  • When night falls, you will walk through the bright lights of Luxor Temple.

Day 6: Luxor West Bank Wonders

  • Start your morning with food at the hotel.
  • Subsequently, you will travel to the West Bank to see the Valley of the Kings, where famous royals are buried.

Day 7: Dendera & Abydos Trips

  • After taking in these massive sandstone structures, you will surely have an appetite for a late lunch.

Day 8: Flight to Cairo & City Sights

  • First, take a fast morning flight back to Cairo.
  • Once you land, your guide will show you the old Citadel of Salah El Din and the Alabaster Mosque.
  • Also, you will explore historic churches and mosques in the city.
  • After a good lunch, you will see royal mummies at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
  • To end the day, enjoy shopping at the busy Khan El Khalili market.
  • Finally, check into your Cairo hotel.

Part 5: Alexandria & The Desert Safari

Day 9: Coastal History in Alexandria

  • In the morning, travel by car to the seaside city of Alexandria.
  • First, you will go underground to see the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa.
  • Next, view Pompey’s Pillar and the strong Citadel of Qaitbay by the water.
  • Because you are by the sea, you will eat fresh seafood for lunch.
  • Afterward, walk through the famous Library of Alexandria.
  • Then, ride back to your Cairo hotel.

Day 10: Bahariya Oasis Desert Trip

  • Early today, we drive to the Bahariya Oasis for a warm lunch.
  • Following this, a 4×4 jeep will take you into the Black Desert.
  • Furthermore, you will slide down dunes in the Agabat Area and see bright rocks in the White Desert.
  • During the evening, enjoy a fun Bedouin barbecue dinner.
  • Most importantly, you will sleep in a peaceful tent under the stars.

Part 6: Return & Final Departure

Day 11: Desert Sunrise & Back to Cairo

  • To begin, wake up early to see a beautiful desert sunrise.
  • After eating breakfast at camp, you can dip your feet in a natural hot spring.
  • Next, ride back to Cairo and have a nice lunch in town.
  • Consequently, you will have a free afternoon at your 5-star hotel to pack and rest.

Day 12: Final Goodbye to Egypt

  • For your last morning, eat breakfast at your hotel before checking out.
