Cairo from Hurghada by Car: Daily Itinerary

Your excursion begins with a pick-up from your Hurghada hotel. You’ll travel to Cairo in a comfortable, air-conditioned car with your tour guide to witness some of history’s oldest wonders, including:

Giza Pyramids Complex

At the Giza Pyramids complex, you can truly experience the enduring legacy of past achievements. Here, you’ll see and feel the mighty presence of the three huge pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. The complex also includes six smaller pyramids, the majestic Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple.

The Great Pyramid of Giza

The Great Pyramid of Khufu demands admiration; it stands as the final surviving structure among the ancient world’s Seven Wonders. Builders constructed the Khufu pyramid in just 20 years, around 2580 BC. They used 2,300,000 limestone stones, each weighing 2.5 tons, with a workforce of about 100,000 free, skilled laborers. At 147 meters (481 feet) tall, it held the title of the world’s tallest building for 3800 years and boasts an exquisitely crafted interior.

The Great Sphinx of Giza

The Great Sphinx, also known as “Hor-em-Akhet” or “Horus of the Horizon,” serves as a celestial witness. This mythical creature, with the body of a lion and the head of a man (thought to be King Khafre to demonstrate his might and wisdom), stands 73 meters (240 feet) tall and 19 meters (66 feet) wide.

The Valley Temple

Built during Egypt’s Old Kingdom (2686-2134 BC), the Valley Temple served as the site for mummification. This well-preserved archaeological site offers priceless information on the mummification process and ancient Egyptian burial rituals.

Enjoy lunch at a restaurant offering views of the Pyramids or the Nile. Following lunch, you’ll continue your visit to:

The Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum acts like a gate to another world, filled with over 120,000 one-of-a-kind ancient Egyptian artifacts dating back over 4,000 years. Within the museum’s two floors, you’ll find statues and funerary artifacts crafted from expensive materials like gold, silver, and valuable gems, alongside a number of displayed mummies. At the end of your day, we will transport you back to your Hurghada hotel in a private, air-conditioned car.

Pyramids in the Mist, Egypt Adventure

Our long drive from Cairo turned into a terrifying flight through Alexandria’s impossibly crowded streets. Our minivan miraculously avoided hitting pedestrians, donkey carts, and old Lada cars.
