To begin, we will pick you up from your accommodation in Cairo so that you may travel with our knowledgeable tour guide and see the top historical and Islamic Cairo sights, which include:

Citadel of Salah El Din

One of the most prominent military castles built in the Middle Ages is Salah El-Din Citadel, which has defensive value due to its strategic position over the towns of Cairo and Al Fustat. In fact, in the 12th century, they built the Citadel to protect Cairo from the Crusaders, and it served as Egypt’s capital during the Ayyubid, Mamluk, and Ottoman dynasties.

Mosque of Mohamed Ali

Mohammed Ali Pasha founded Cairo Citadel in 1830 AD, and construction of Mohamed Ali Mosque proceeded until his passing in 1848 AD, making it the tallest point within. Furthermore, one of the most notable Islamic attractions in Cairo, the mosque’s external architecture was inspired by the Sultan Ahmad Mosque in Istanbul.

Afterward, lunch will be served at a nearby eatery, after which we’ll go to see:

Mosque and Madrassa of Sultan Hassan

One of the most valuable examples of early Mamluk architecture which was built between 1356 and 1363 AD, is the Sultan Hassan Madrassa Mosque. Notably, the mosque was constructed using enormous stone blocks, which came to symbolize the completion of all the architectural endeavors undertaken throughout the Mamluk era.

Mosque of Al Rifai

The Al Refaie Mosque, which was established by Khoshiar Hanim, the mother of Khedive Ismail, is another magnificent Islamic structure in Cairo. Initially, construction started in 1869 AD and was finished in 1911 AD. However, from 1880 to 1905 AD, construction on its structure was halted for around 25 years. In addition, the family graves of Mohamed Ali were located in the mosque.

Mosque of Ibn Tulun

Ahmed Ibn Tulun, appointed by the Abbasid Caliph as the governor of Al Fustat, built the Ibn Tulun Mosque, the oldest and largest mosque in Cairo, between 876 and 879 AD. Moreover, the Abbasid architectural style inspired the mosque’s interior décor, featuring a vast courtyard and beautifully painted arches.

Market in Khan El Khalili

The Khan El Khalili Bazaar is a historic souk that is well-known and situated in the heart of Cairo. It was established as a significant hub of commerce during the Mamluk era. The bazaar, which originated in the fourteenth century, has grown to include several cafés and eateries, notably El Fishawy, the city’s oldest café. Finally, to wrap off your day tour, we will transport you back to your accommodation

Egypt Fun Tours – Does it All!

My husband and I visited Egypt in March 2013. First, let me say, ‘Go, go, go!’ – it’s safer and definitely friendlier than many places we’ve visited. Tourism is drastically down – thanks mostly to media misinformation – so it’s a great time to visit to avoid line-ups and crowds
