Day Trip: Port Ghalib to the Pyramids by Plane

We’ll pick you up from your Port Ghalib hotel and take you to Marsa Alam airport. You will catch a flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your private tour guide and begin your trip.

Giza Pyramids Complex

The Giza Pyramids Complex encapsulates the core of ancient Egyptian civilization. It includes one-of-a-kind structures such as the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple.

The Great Pyramid of Giza

This is one of the world’s most famous and well-known buildings. It is the last surviving of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Built in 2580 BC, it grew to a height of 147 meters. It took 100,000 workers and 2.3 million limestone stones to construct.

The Great Sphinx of Giza

Inside the Giza complex is a stone statue of a humanoid lion with the face of King Khafre (2258 BC – 2532 BC). It is 73 meters long and 19 meters wide.

The Valley Temple

The Valley Temple is one of Egypt’s best-preserved temples. It reflects ancient Egyptian funerary rituals, as it was here that the mummification process took place during the Old Kingdom (2686-2134 BC). After lunch at a local restaurant with views of the Pyramids and the Nile, you will visit:

Step Pyramid of Saqqara

Also known as Imhotep’s Steps to the Heavens, the Saqqara Step Pyramid was built for Pharaoh Djoser. It was the first of its kind, a six-step pyramid reaching 62 meters in height. Its surrounding complex inspired the creation of later pyramids.

Memphis City

King Menes established Memphis City in 2925 BC. It was Egypt’s first recognized capital and was dedicated to Ptah, the god of craftsmanship and art. It once housed a massive temple known as the enclosure of the Ka of Ptah, which Greeks translated as Ai-Gy-Ptos. This became the etymological basis for the word “Egypt.” At the end of the day, a driver will transfer you back to Cairo Airport. You will then fly to Hurghada, and a driver will drive you to your hotel in Port Ghalib in an air-conditioned vehicle.
