Day 1: Monday – Esna:
You will be welcomed and assisted by your Egypt Fun Tours tour manager upon arrival at Luxor airport / Luxor train station, and then taken on a tour of Esna by your Egyptologist tour guide. Esna is well known for the tiny old Temple of Khnum, which stands 9 meters below street level and is a lively market village. Your journey will begin with a short walk to the temple, followed by a tour through shops lined with gorgeous fabrics and other unusual items.
Onboard your Nile Dahabiya boat, and spend the night at Esna.
Lunch and Dinner are included.
Day 2: Tuesday – El Kab & Edfu:
We leisurely cruise en route to El Kab, on the Nile’s East bank, which was once the capital of Southern Egypt and is now home to the temple of Nekhbet, as well as a row of magnificent ornate tombs cut into the mountainside. After docking, you’ll take a lovely stroll through a tiny fishermen’s town to the necropolis. The boat will arrive at Edfu in the afternoon, where there is a Greco-Roman temple devoted to the deity Horus. This is one of the most well-preserved Egyptian temples. You will be transported to the temple by horse and carriage through the bustling city streets. You’ll set sail for a lovely island after returning to the boat.
Meals are provided on a full-board basis.
Day 3: Wednesday – Sail & Relax:
This is a river-focused day: you’ll set sail right after an optional morning stroll and brunch. You’ll stop on an island for a stroll or a dip in the Nile in the afternoon. As darkness falls, a trek into the desert through a valley strewn with rocks carved with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and stone-age inscriptions may be possible. These pictures mark the start of the briefest trail through the desert to Libya (28 days in ancient times). The vessel will dock at the foot of Gebel Silsileh’s floodlit shrine at night.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are all included.
Day 4: Thursday – Gebel Silsileh:
The Nile is at its tightest here as it winds past two mountain ranges. Larger Nile cruise ships are prohibited from stopping here, thus you are likely to be the only one there. After viewing Horemheb’s modest temple and strolling through the sandstone quarries, where ancient Egyptians carved stone for many of their most renowned temples, you’ll stop at a beautiful café for tea and shisha (waterpipe). Your next destination will be an idyllic riverside where you may swim and relax after lunch.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included.
Day 5: Friday – Kom Ombo:
A night spent on the river and under the stars will be followed by a journey to Kom Ombo, which includes a visit to its famous temple. The Ptolemaic era saw the construction of the temple, which stands on the site of an earlier structure and overlooks a lovely bend in the river. The temple belonged to Sobek, a crocodile-headed god. After seeing the temple, head to the nearby Crocodile Museum, where you’ll find several mummified crocodiles, testifying to the creature’s historical significance in the area.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included.
Day 6: Saturday – Aswan:
After a hearty breakfast onboard your Dahabiya Nile cruise, you’ll be taken to the Aswan airport or train station for your final departure.
Breakfast is included as part of the package.
