Global Code of Ethics for Tourism

Our Commitment to Sustainable Tourism

At Egypt Fun Tours, we recognize the importance of sustainable tourism. We encourage our visitors to make a positive impact while in Egypt. We understand the need to keep our environment clean and well-cared for.

The Global Code of Ethics for Tourism

The Global Code of Ethics for Tourism (GCET) is a set of principles that promotes responsible and sustainable tourism. It helps governments, the travel industry, communities, and tourists maximize the benefits of tourism while minimizing its negative impacts. These impacts can affect the environment, cultural heritage, and societies worldwide.

The World Tourism Organization’s General Assembly adopted the code in 1999. The United Nations recognized it two years later, prompting the UNWTO to implement its provisions. While the code is not legally binding, it includes a voluntary implementation mechanism. The World Committee on Tourism Ethics (WCTE) helps stakeholders with questions about the code’s application.

The code’s ten principles cover the economic, social, cultural, and environmental aspects of travel and tourism in detail.
