Saqqara Step Pyramid

Your first stop is the Saqqara Step Pyramid, a true marvel of ancient engineering. Commissioned by King Djoser (2649–2611 BC) and designed by his visionary vizier Imhotep, it’s considered the world’s oldest major stone structure. This iconic pyramid stands 62 meters tall with its distinctive six steps.

Memphis City

Next, explore the legendary city of Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt during the Old Kingdom (2686–2134 BC). For over 3,000 years, Memphis was a vital center of government, art, knowledge, politics, and culture. Under the watchful eye of Ptah, the deity of art and construction, Memphis was once the largest city in the world until around 2250 BC.

Dahshur Pyramids

Just 40 kilometers southwest of Cairo, you’ll discover the impressive Dahshur Pyramids. This site is home to the colossal pyramids of King Sneferu (2613–2589 BC), including the well-known Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid, located in the southwestern necropolis of Memphis.

Finally, you’ll be driven back to Alexandria Port to rejoin your cruise.
