14-Day Egypt Adventure: A Journey Through Time

This two-week “Amarna Letters” tour covers the highlights of ancient and modern Egypt. The trip focuses on the major historical cities of Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan, with a unique visit to El Minya and the former capital of King Akhenaton at Tel El-Amarna. The tour also includes excursions to Abu Simbel.

Embark on a two-week adventure through the heart of Egypt. This comprehensive tour takes you from the bustling streets of Cairo to the historic sites of El-Minya, Luxor, and Aswan, offering a blend of ancient wonders and cultural immersion.

Day 1: Cairo Arrival

Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, an Egypt Fun Tours representative will assist you with all airport formalities, from passport control to luggage claim. Afterward, a private, air-conditioned car will transfer you to your hotel for check-in and an overnight stay in Cairo.

Day 2: Pyramids of Giza & Saqqara

After breakfast, your private guide will take you on a tour of the Giza Pyramids, where you’ll see the Great Pyramid of King Cheops, the pyramids of Kings Chephren and Menkaure, and the iconic Sphinx. You’ll also have the opportunity to enter one of the smaller queen’s pyramids. After an authentic Egyptian lunch at a countryside restaurant, you will explore the Saqqara Pyramids, including the Step Pyramid of King Djoser. The tour also includes a visit to the ancient capital of Memphis. In the evening, you can attend the optional Sound and Light Show at Giza. You will then return to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Cairo City Tours

Following breakfast, you will embark on a tour of the Egyptian Museum, which houses over 120,000 artifacts, including the incredible treasures of King Tutankhamun. Next, you will delve into the rich heritage of Coptic Cairo, visiting historic sites like the Hanging Church, the Church of Saint Sergius, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. After lunch by the Nile, you will explore Islamic Cairo, including the Citadel of Saladin, the alabaster mosque of Mohamed Ali, and the Khan El-Khalili bazaar. You will then return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Journey to El-Minya

Enjoy a free morning after breakfast at your hotel. In the afternoon, you will transfer to the train station for your journey to El-Minya. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel for the night.

Day 5: El-Minya: Beni Hassan

After breakfast, you will start your tour of Beni Hassan. This includes a local Egyptian picnic lunch, offering a taste of authentic local cuisine. You will then return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Tel El-Amarna & Tuna El-Gabal

Today’s tour takes you to Tel El-Amarna, the former capital of King Akhenaton, and Tuna El-Gabal, a necropolis. You will also enjoy a local picnic lunch at Tuna El-Gabal.

Day 7: Travel to Luxor

After breakfast, you will transfer to the railway station for your train to Luxor. Upon arrival, you will check in to your hotel for the night.

Day 8: Luxor’s West Bank

After breakfast, you will begin your tour of the West Bank of Luxor. You will visit the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, the stunning Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch will be served on the West Bank before you transfer back to your hotel.

Day 9: Luxor’s East Bank

Following breakfast, you will explore Luxor’s East Bank. This tour includes a visit to the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex and the Luxor Temple.

Day 10: Luxor to Aswan

After breakfast, you will travel to Aswan. Along the way, you will visit two remarkable temples: the Temple of Edfu, which is the second-largest temple in Egypt, and the Greco-Roman double temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to two gods. Upon reaching Aswan, you will check into your hotel.

Day 11: Aswan Sightseeing

After breakfast, your tour of Aswan begins with a visit to the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk. After checking into your hotel, you will take a motorboat to the beautiful Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a traditional felucca ride around Elephantine Island, sailing past the Agha Khan Mausoleum and Kitchener’s Island.

Day 12: Abu Simbel & Sleeper Train to Cairo

You have the option to take an early morning trip to Abu Simbel. Afterward, you will transfer to the railway station for an overnight sleeper train to Cairo.

Day 13: Cairo Walking Tour

After breakfast on the train, you will begin a walking tour of Cairo. You’ll visit the Mosque of Ahmed Ibn Tulun and the famous Khan El-Khalili bazaar. This will be your final full day of sightseeing in Egypt.

Day 14: Final Departure

After breakfast at the hotel, an Egypt Fun Tours representative will transfer you to Cairo Airport for your final departure. You will leave with wonderful memories from your Egyptian adventure.
