He led campaigns into Nubia and Libya and also sent a fleet of forty ships to procure cedar wood from Byblos (modern-day Lebanon). These efforts filled Egypt’s coffers and provided the materials needed for his monumental structures. He also initiated a vast building program beyond his pyramids, including smaller tombs and administrative buildings.
