King Tutankhamun

King Tutankhamun

King Tutankhamun (1334 B.C.-1325 B.C.) was an Egyptian king during the New Kingdom’s 18th Dynasty (1570-1050 BC). Tutankhamun, which means “living image of deity Amun,” is another name for him. He was just 9 years old when he assumed Egypt’s throne when his father Akhenaten died, making him one of the youngest rulers in ancient Egypt’s history.

After his father attempted to impose monotheism by unifying the many gods into one deity, “Aton,” the sun disc god, he ruled Egypt for a brief while. He also relocated his capital from Thebes to the Horizon of Aten, or “Amarna.” During Tut’s reign, various uprisings took place, such as Tell El Amarna, which sought the restoration of the old gods.

Tut was the son of Akhenaten and Lady Kiya “one of Akhenaten’s wives,” and his wife was Ankhesenpaaten, which means “Her Life is from Aton.” She was his half-sister from Akhenaten and Nefertiti, and she was his half-sister from Akhenaten and Nefertiti.

Tutankhamun’s tomb discovery

When was King Tutankhamun's tomb discovered?

King Tutankhamun did not live the life of a king like most of his forefathers, and he left no lasting legacy after his death at the age of 19 years.

He was remembered more for his death than for his life because he’s great, the well-preserved tomb in the Valley of the Kings, discovered in 1922, contained his mummy and a thousand treasures, all of which were displayed for the first time in 2010 in the Egyptian museum, but will soon be moved to the new grand museum, which will open in 2021. It displays his renowned giant coffins, as well as his golden mask and other riches discovered in his grave. As a result, many tourists opt to include it in their Egypt itinerary.

Howard Carter

What Happened When King Tutankhamen's Tomb Was Discovered?

The relationship between a talented Egyptologist and archaeologist named Howard Carter and the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, who inspired the most famous archaeological discovery of all time,, “Tutankhamun Tomb,” in 1914, may be linked back to the remarkable finding of King’s Tut tomb.

Carter was recruited by Lord Carnarvon to find King Tutankhamun’s old tomb. Lord Carnarvon attempted to find the tomb for several years but was unsuccessful, prompting him to employ Carter owing to his supervision of excavations within the temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor and his use of advanced archaeological and recording procedures.

They both thought that Tutankhamun’s tomb had been forgotten and that it was past time for the world to recall the name of King Tutankhamun once more. On November 4, 1922, while systematically investigating a line of huts, a young water boy stumbled across a stone that appeared to be the top of a flight of steps cut into the bedrock; after clearing the debris and beginning a slow, careful excavation, a sunken staircase leading to a mud-plastered doorway bearing King Tut’s royal seals was discovered.

Curse of King Tut Pharaoh

What is the Curse of King Tut Pharaoh?

People worldwide became interested in the “Pharaoh’s Curse.” The curse claims that anyone who disturbs a pharaoh’s tomb will die.

Lord Carnarvon died five months after the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. This sparked many supernatural theories. However, they remain just theories. Only eight of the 58 people present died within a few years. The rest lived long lives. Howard Carter, for example, died in 1939 at the age of 64. Many experts believe the “curse” was actually lethal gas, chemicals, bacteria, or radiation.

King Tutankhamun’s Death

King Tutankhamun’s death is a mystery. Pharaohs usually did not die so young. He also suffered from many disabilities and diseases. Researchers and scientists searched for answers for years. They discovered a hole in his skull and a fracture in his leg. This suggests an accident or even murder.
