Tour Itinerary

Detailed itinerary of the 12-Day Guided Egypt Tour of Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor & Hurghada

Day 1: Arrival in Egypt: Your tour guide will be waiting for you at the Cairo airport when you arrive. He or she will assist you with completing all the necessary paperwork and entrance requirements before driving you in a private A/C vehicle to your hotel so you can check-in. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: A tour of Memphis, Saqqara, and the Pyramids: After breakfast, you will meet your Egyptologist tour guide to begin your 12-day trip to Egypt at one of Giza’s fabled wonders:

Giza Pyramids Complex: The Sphinx, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, is housed inside the Giza Pyramids complex, a living marvel that was created during the 4th dynasty about 2400 B.C.

The Great Pyramid: The funerary burial tomb of “King Khufuit” is the Great Pyramid of Giza, which is also by far the highest building in all of Egypt. With the aid of 2.3 million limestones, the height of the huge pyramid reaches 147 meters. There are several amazing rooms in the interior, including the Grand Hall and the chambers for the Kings and Queens.

The Great Sphinx: The Great Sphinx is the representation of an ancient monster made from a single piece of limestone that has the body of a lion and the characteristics of Pharaoh Khafre on its face. Its dimensions are 73 meters long, 19 meters wide, and 20 meters high, making it one of the largest and oldest man-made monuments in the world.

The Valley Temple: The Valley Temple, a large granite structure used by ancient Egyptian pharaohs for mummification, is still the only one of its sort to be discovered on the Giza plateau.

After having lunch with a view of the Pyramids or the Nile, go on to:

Step Pyramid of Saqqara: The Saqqara Step Pyramid, which dates to the time of Pharaoh Djoser, who ruled Egypt in the 27th century B.C., is the earliest of its sort and the first mastaba “Cut-stone” Pyramid. Imhotep planned it to be made up of six steps that are stacked on top of one another and are 62 meters tall.

City of Memphis: King Menes established Memphis City as Egypt’s first known capital. The word Egypt is derived from the Greek term Aigyptos for it. Memphis was created to be under the guardianship of Ptah, the god of creation and art.

Finally, we return you to your hotel where you will spend the night.

breakfast and lunch

Day 3: City tour of Alexandria: Following breakfast, you will go with your tour guide to some of Alexandria’s treasures, including:

Kom El Shoqafa’s catacombs: The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa can fuse architectural styles from the ancient Egyptian civilization with artistic aspects from the Hellenistic and Roman eras. A three-story mausoleum for a single family was constructed in the second century.

Pompey’s Pillar: Pompey’s Pillar, the only monolithic column ever constructed outside of Rome, is 28 meters tall and 2.7 meters wide. It is composed completely of red granite and has a Greek inscription honoring Emperor Diocletian on its western top side. The Crusaders thought that the bones of the famous Roman general Pompey were discovered in a pot at the very top of the pillar when it was constructed in 300 AD.

Enjoy lunch at Sea View in Alexandria, after which go to:

Citadel of Qaitbay: The famed Alexandrian lighthouse’s ancient spirit is guarded by the Qaitbay Citadel. The mosque was built by Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-din Qa’it Bay in 1477 AD on the same site as Alexandria’s legendary lighthouse, using reclaimed stone from that structure.

Alexandria Library: Knowledge is available in unlimited supply in the Alexandria Library. It is one of the most technologically advanced libraries in Africa, housing the sixth-largest Francophone library in the whole world. In addition to some of the rarest series of books on the planet, it offers wonderful art galleries.

You will check into a hotel in Alexandria for the night.

breakfast and lunch

Day 4: Heracleion diving followed by a trip back to Cairo: After eating breakfast, you will go to Alexandria’s legendary Heracleion with your tour guide. When you arrive, you will meet your driving instructor, who will lead you through every aspect of your diving excursion.

Everyone will plunge into the Mediterranean Sea’s depths, demonstrating that the vast civilization of ancient Egypt still contains undiscovered riches. Near the Canopic Mouth of the Nile, some 32 kilometers (20 miles) northeast of Alexandria on the Mediterranean Sea, was an ancient Egyptian port city called “Thonis-Heracleion.” The chroniclers of several distinguished Greek historians, who place its earliest origins in the 12th century BC, made frequent mention of it.

One of the primary deities who created and oversaw the cosmos is the goddess Neith of Sais, whose shrine is located there. Before the fabled Trojan War and the heroic Heracles, Paris, and Helen of Troy visited the city, which was also known by its Egyptian and Greek names.

Enjoy your lunch in an Alexandria restaurant before traveling with your tour guide to your hotel in Cairo for the night.

breakfast and lunch

Day 5: Fly and see the East Bank of Luxor: After breakfast, you will check out your accommodation and take a flight to Luxor. You will be greeted by your tour guide, who will drive you in a private vehicle to the East Luxor attractions:

Temple of Karnak: The Karnak Temple serves as a potent icon of ancient Egyptian religion. It is the world’s biggest temple complex and was constructed between around 2055 BC and 100 AD. Over 247 acres of land, the Temple of Karnak is made up of three great temples, each of which is devoted to a different stone representing an Egyptian deity.

Transfer to a 5-star hotel in Luxor with your tour guide to unwind and recharge. After that, you’ll have a delectable lunch at a Luxor restaurant. In the evening, go with your tour guide to one of these outstanding venues:

Temple of Luxor: Since its construction in 1400 BCE by the hands of King Amenhotep III and King Ramses II, the Luxor Temple has been the pride and joy of the ancient Egyptians. The temple’s main purpose was to serve as a setting for the rituals of the Opet festival, which were intended to reconcile the human aspect of the ruler with the divine office and the Crowning of many Pharaohs.

Return to your hotel in Luxor and spend the night there.

breakfast and lunch

Day 6: Travel to the West Bank of Luxor and then to Hurghada: After breakfast at your accommodation, check out. Your tour guide and a private air-conditioned car will next accompany you as you see the prominent attractions on the west bank of Luxor, including:

Temple of Hatshepsut: The Hatshepsut Temple, also known as the “Holy of Holies” or Djoser-Djeseru, is a stunning dream realized. The temple was constructed in 1479 BC under Egypt’s nascent reign and took 15 years to build, displaying a degree of beauty and refinement never before seen.

The Kings’ Valley: The Valley of the Monarchs, located in the center of a mountain, is the location of the tombs of all 63 of the Egyptian kings and queens of the New Kingdom (1570–1070 BC), including the whole Rameses dynasty, Amenhotep I, Tutankhamen, and many more.

Before visiting, pause to eat your lunch:

Memnon’s Colossi: Two enormous sculptures made of quartzite sandstone known as the Colossi of Memnon are noted for their singing prowess. Each statue is 720 tonnes in weight and 18 meters (60 feet) tall, and it is designed in the manner of Pharaoh Amenhotep III (1386-1350). A significant earthquake damaged the Colossi in 27 BC, but they were rebuilt in 199 AD.

After that, we will drive you to your Hurghada hotel where you may check-in.

After the day, you will go to your hotel.

Day 11: Fly to Cairo, then see the Egyptian Museum and Old Cairo: Following breakfast, you will board a flight for Cairo, where you will meet your private tour guide to view world-famous Cairo sights like:

The Egyptian Museum: The Egyptian Museum provides a thorough examination of the illustrious past of ancient Egypt. The exhibition features over 250,000 authentic items from ancient Egypt, many of which are shown in the most vivid possible detail.

Citadel of Salah El Din: The Salah El-Din Citadel is a colossal structure that towers over the whole city and served as Egypt’s administrative headquarters until the 1860s. The building project began in 1176 and was finished in 1182. In addition to mosques and several museums, it offers the greatest vista of Cairo.

Mosque of Mohamed Ali: The Mohamed Ali Mosque, sometimes known as “The Alabaster Mosque” since the majority of its walls are composed of pure alabaster, is one of Cairo’s most popular tourist destinations. It was built between 1830 and 1848. The Mohamed Ali Mosque is an exact duplicate of Istanbul’s Blue Mosque.

In Cairo, lunch will be provided in a neighborhood eatery before visiting:

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization: An additional marvel to Egypt’s timeless wonders is the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC). Through the use of cutting-edge museological techniques, the museum can display the progression of history and art over more than 5000 years.

The Hanging Church: A sacred location with a history spanning more than 1500 years is The Hanging Church. It was built in Babylon around the fifth century AD on top of a Roman fortification wall. The church is 30 feet tall and looms above Cairo. Inside, you’ll find the most stunning embellishments from the 7th to the 13th centuries.

Mosque of Amr Ibn Al Ass: A new chapter in Egypt’s history is opened by the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque. As the earliest mosque in Africa, it was constructed in 641 AD. It was repeatedly renovated during the 7th century, serving as a live example of how Islamic architecture developed in Egypt during that period.

Synagogue of Ben Ezra: The Ben Ezra Synagogue is a unique historical structure from the nineteenth century. In the city of Cairo’s heart, a chapel was converted into a mosque in the year 882. The synagogue has amazing and unique Jewish artwork and décor.

Market in Khan El Khalili: An unforgettable shopping experience may be had in Khan El-Khalili Bazaar, a magnificent pathway from the skies packed with golden jewels and everything that makes Egypt unique. It was built around 970 AD, the same year Cairo was established.

What People Say About Us
5/5

Thank you Egypt Fun Tours for a most memorable trip. I admit I didn’t do any of the planning (it was all done by my boyfriend) but as you can read in the reviews below Hani (the owner of Egypt Fun Tours) is superbly organized and accommodating with scheduling.

My boyfriend and I, and our dearest mutual friend, booked the 7Days-6Nights tour. In short time, we visited Cairo, Aswan, and Luxor sailing down the down the Nile, pit stopping to see key sites at these location – and so much more!!! We got to know the ancient and modern egypt in depth thanks to Hani’s impressive knowledge. He also enlightened us on the people and their beliefs and went as far as showing us what a typical life looks like. I cannot express the level of personalized service Hani offered us. He was flexible to adapt to our requirements and added sites to our schedule that was not part of the tour simply to ensure we were 100% satisfied with our experience in Egypt.

I went to Egypt practically blind-folded, not knowing what to expect, especially considering the time we had decided to go (December 2020 – we were the first group that Hani met with after months of having to put his tour agency on hold considering the pandemic) yet he managed to surpass all of our expectations. I felt so incredibly lucky for us to have stumbled on Hani. I would recommend Egypt Fun Tours to anyone and everyone. It was truly, HANDS DOWN, the best cultural experience I’ve ever had. You’ll be in the best of hands.

Hamada was incredible! So knowledgeable and kind. He had information about every item, street corner, and relic we looked at. Any questions we had, he had answers! He even made sure to give us tips while walking through the crowds so that’s we would feel more comfortable when being approached by vendors. Oh and the food?! He took us to the best places! Delicious food!! We tried Egyptian fried chicken, falafel for the first time, the best shawarma in the city (we love food). We even got to meet his beautiful wife and children and try some “French” Egyptian coffee in their home! Truly made friends for life!! We’ve promised to host him and the family when they travel to America for the first time! Such an incredible experience, and Hamada (and family) made it that much more memorable and amazing!

Excellent trip to historic sites with no one else around. We came to see Egypt while most places still had COVID19 fears. The staff at Egypt Fun Tours were professional, safe, and great to deal with. Very helpful, knowledgeable, and entertaining. I feel like I just got a a year of Egyptology in the last week and we had all the sites to ourselves due to COVID19. While people are shutting down and staying home you should feel safe to come explore with Egypt Fun Tours and have the place to yourself.
